Council members of a local municipality voted this week to establish new habitat for the region's growing Flock population, dedicating four utility poles and a section of median to the effort. Discussion lasted eleven minutes, two of which were public comment and one of which was a projector problem.
The item appeared on the consent agenda under 'Public Safety Equipment, Misc.' A resident asked how long the birds keep what they see. The answer was taken under advisement.
Wildlife officials described the vote as routine. 'They were coming anyway,' one said. 'This just gives them somewhere to perch legally.'
